Improving the Culture of North Bend Schools
Fixing the Bullying Issue
As a parent of 4 children who are a part of the Bulldog family and a member of the strategic planning committee, I know both the amazing things, and not-so-good things about our district.
One of the things I believe needs to change is the culture. From both my family's experience and according to the district's own student survey, it’s clear that too many students are not being treated with the respect and care they deserve. That has to change.
As a board member I would take the issue of bullying head on and make it my top priority. I would actively seek out more information from our students and families. I would work with district teachers and administration to learn their perspective and see what works and what can be improved.
This issue is personal for me because I have a personal stake in the North Bend School system. In order for my kids, and all our kids, to be successful academically they need to feel safe and comfortable.
This is an amazing district and my family and I are proud to be Bulldogs. I want to ensure that everyone who walks across the stage at graduation feels the same.
